Loose Cushion Cut Diamonds Search

This is a rare cut, and thus highly valued. It combines a round and square diamond for a pillow-like shape, and can either be symmetrical or elongated. It can be worn as a solitaire, to highlight its unique shape, or is often paired with baguette diamonds. At least 4 prongs are needed to keep the stone safely in place.

Loose Cushion Cut Diamonds History

Developed centuries ago the cushion cut diamond is one of the oldest loose diamond cuts. The cushion cut diamond was popular in the 1830s, and was sometimes called the candlelight diamond because of its ability to reflect close light for a soft, romantic sparkle.

Famous Loose Cushion Cut Diamonds

The cushion cut diamond has recently become very popular among celebrities, including Debra Messing, Britney Spears – 4 carat cushion cut diamond engagement ring worth $40,000, Angeline Jolie, Ashley Judd and Brittany Murphy - 6.5 carat cushion cut loose diamond set in a platinum wedding ring with diamonds embedded in the band.

Loose Diamonds - Diamond Shapes

Loose diamonds are available in many shapes. Known for its incredible brilliance and fire the Round loose diamond is by far the most popular. While somewhat less traditional fancy shaped loose diamonds are both unique and beautiful. Some of the more popular loose diamond shapes include the Princess (square) cut, Emerald cut, Triangle (trillian), Heart, Oval, Marquise, Asscher, Pear, Radiant and Cushion cut. A loose diamond can be set alone in a diamond ring/pendant or it can be paired up to create stunning diamond earrings or side stones to complement an existing loose diamond.
